'Killzone Mercenary' - first details revealed

Polish magazine PSX Extreme has published the first details for Killzone: Mercenary, Guerilla's first title for Sony's PlayStation Vita.

According to the magazine, Killzone: Mercenary's performance will be comparable to that of a portable Killzone 3, with frame rate issues not a concern even during the most intense levels.

A member of NeoGAF posted info (see below) and a screenshot (see above) of the article:

- Engine is nearly 1:1 from PS3 version

- They added a few new gimmicks to the engine, so they can utilize more PS Vita

- Game is gorgeous, clear and crispy textures, big draw distances

- Character models are awesome, the same with animation

- Stable FPS even with gigantic action inside levels

- Literally - game is like portable Killzone 3, looking better than Uncharted.

Expect more official info from Sony to follow soon - Killzone: Mercenary could very well be the first-party title that Vita owners (and sceptics) have been waiting for.

Would you buy a Vita for Killzone: Mercenary?

Great to hear about it. It's sounding like it'll look and play great.

Shame it'll be an FPS and not like Liberation - that game was amazing.

Here we go again on the hype train. 1:1 with the PS3 version blah blah blah. I'll believe that when I see it.
Enough comparing to home consoles Sony, just bring out some decent games without the BS it'll only just come back to haunt you.

Graphics don't make or break a handheld. Sounds like too much emphasis on the former rather than spilling details about gameplay. AC: Liberation was pretty graphically but fairly average gameplay-wise over the course of a playthrough.

I've enjoyed my 3DS XL more than anything I played or reviewed on the Vita. I hope for the sake of Vita fans that it is a good quality, and most importantly fun title, though.

I meant Killzone: Liberation, not AC. :P

Two games in the limited Vita game catalogue with Liberation in the sub-title? What are the chances huh? :P

Same. Heard the same garbage with COD, although that IS third-party.

But Killzone on PSP was awesome, but not FPS. Struggling to see this being any good.

I don't care about anything. I'm excited! Killzone 3 was one of my favourite exclusives Playstation has released, with resistance 3 being my favourite under rated FPS made. It was a massive improvement from whatever crap they released before hand

Killzone: Liberation was on the original PSP - not Vita. You're full of disappointment!
